the mute button went away on apple maps driving directions

Problem solved!!!!

All I did was to touch the map on the screen on the left side when Apple Maps was visible. The option to mute is now there on my car as opposed to being listed on the drop down menu on the right where you end route.

Yes restarted the phone. The option is not on the CarPlay screen anymore since the update.

Exasperating. That was a wonderful feature…just tap on the directions to toggle back and forth. Although I’m sure they do user testing, I really can’t imagine anyone who uses this feature regularly saying that the new version is better. I didn’t notice it until I was on the highway with a deadline and the only way I could check my ETA was to leave the ****** directions on the entire time. I knew exactly where I was going…I just need to know when I was going to get there. It took me twenty minutes today to find this board with the answer. Not a great example of something that’s supposed to be SO intuitive anyone can figure it out.

I found a mute button, however, it used to be a simple tap on the directions so it is inconvenient to drive with. I also doordash a lot so used the feature a lot :/

Yes I think the same. Pleased it’s there but not as easy to use 🤷‍♀️
