No way to block spam messages

On the iPhone there is a way to block the number much the same way as blocking phone calls. But on the Mac, running Catalina, there is no such option. The closest it comes is to offer an 'ignore' option.

Is there a shortcut for blocking spam calls? Hello there, I’m using iPhone 11 since last 1 year. As we know recently spam calls increased day by day. I’m also receiving such type of spam calls on my phone and to prevent those calls I also used call blocking app but that’s not much useful Because spammers calling from different different numbers with the same series code. Blocking texts These days the scammers have switched from calls to text messages. Why is there no easy way to block these numbers? The only thing I can find is the ability to mute notices, but the text will still be there.

Why is it easy to block a spam text number on iPhone, but not on a Mac? This is mystifying. Shouldn't it be just as easy to block on a Mac as a phone?
