Wi-fi privacy warning

I recently updated to iOS 15.0.1 on my iPhone 8. I have started getting the "Privacy Warning - This network is blocking encrypted DNS traffic" warning for the first time on my 2.4Ghz wifi network, but not on my 5Ghz network. I am using NordVPN on my phone on both networks. I need 2.4Ghz for the extra range.

What has been changed in this latest release/fix that is preventing me connecting via 2.4Ghz? How do I get past this problem?

Hi Geoff,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

We understand that you're seeing an alert on your iPhone when you connect to your 2.4 Ghz network.

This is a great resource which explains the security warnings as well as the best settings to use with your Wi-Fi router and iPhone: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

We hope this helps.

Cheers!

I had gone through the fixes in that article already as I saw from a Google search that it is a reoccurring problem.

I am looking to find out exactly what specifically was changed in either iOS 15 or 15.0.1 that caused 2.4 GHz (but not 5GHz) connections to be affected in this way. It wasn’t broken until the us release or patch, so it should be easy to identify. I have a complex WiFi setup and don’t want to start poking it here and there for fear of breaking anything else
