Different Apple ID’s are linked to the same account.

I have an iPhone 6s and an iPhone XS Max with two different Apple IDs. When I get a phone call or text message to either, they both ring. I don’t understand why this is happening. And they have two different phone numbers also. Is there a solution to this? I’d appreciate the help.

We understand you have two separate iPhones, however both ring when you get a call or message. To get started, are the messages always just iMessage, or does this happen with regular SMS messages? What is the difference between iMessage and SMS/MMS?


The reason we ask is this is only really possible if both phone numbers have been associated with the same Apple ID at one point.


Since you can sign into more than one Apple ID in a different place for different settings, be sure to go Settings > Messages > Send & Receive on both. Do you see the same Apple IDs and phone numbers for both devices here? We can check the same for FaceTime in the same way.



We hope this helps get you pointed in the right direction.
