New iPhone cannot AirDrop with older (2012) Macs
Hello. I'm hoping someone can help me with a problem that Apple Support wasn't able to solve.
I recently upgraded my iPhone 6 to an iPhone SE (2020) and now I cannot AirDrop with either of my older Macs (2012 models running Mojave and Catalina).
The iPhone is running iOS 14.7.1, it's on the same WiFi network as the Macs, and Bluetooth is on. In fact, the Macs can even pair with it. But when I try to AirDrop from the iPhone to either Mac, I just get a "No People Found" screen, and when I try to go the other direction, neither Mac can see the iPhone.
The Macs can AirDrop to each other without a problem and the iPhone can AirDrop to another iPhone without issue. I don't have a newer Mac to test it with, but Apple says both my Macs are new enough that AirDrop should work, as it did with my previous iPhone.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Everyone I've spoken to so far is stumped. I've gone through all my settings multiple times and restarted everything too. There are only two suggestions I haven't tried:
- Upgrade to iOS 15. (It's hard to see how that would help this particular situation.)
- Reset Network Settings on the iPhone. (The iPhone can AirDrop to other iPhones, so I'm dubious about trying this solution, which has some negative consequences.)
All ideas are welcome and I thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
