Rowdog,

When you have a subscription, the whole catalog for your country is available to download for offline listening, i.e., some 70 million songs to choose from. Follow the steps in here:

Add and download music from Apple Music - Apple Support

When/if your subscription ends, the downloaded tracks will become unplayable.

Rowdog,

Two things to make sure you know:

  1. The Apple Music subscription tracks that you download for offline listening will not work in an old iPod. (An iPod Touch is OK, since it has internet and runs iOS.)
  2. It is possible to have Apple Music streaming co-exist with your library based on local audio files. However, it is also possible to screw it up. Therefore, before you do anything, make a backup of the library that you painstakingly built over the years.

thanx ....

i see how to "download" from my i tunes store / library...which is all set on my PC ...

for me, and realize this is Not how many, if not most, do this...but ...

i download, then get the music onto my Ipod and play via my sound system (or vehicle, etc)

all my "older" devices work fine, so that's my route ...

that said , my library contains ALL my music ...

my old albums / cassettes / cd's all were painstakingly added to the i tunes library, so i could use how i wanted ...

the window that popped up when i attempted to "download" my unlimited music, from a recent purchase,

indicates a "merge" of my current library, w/ i cloud ... which is sort of foreign for me ...

i understand that my purchases from the i tunes store, over the past few years, are also in the cloud ...however...

what of all my "other" music ?!?

other online purchases, cd's etc already mentioned .....

i'm concerned of a potential problem with all of it, when synching my classic or nano etc

as i have had "issues" previously

thanx
