Connecting to SMB server error

Hello Apple Support world,

I've been trying to connect my iPad to my work server since I got it. I have no issues connecting my MacBook macOS but the iOS doesn't seem to want to connect. I have tried it both on site connected to my work's secure wifi and off site using VPN to no avail. I can get it to the point where I can see the initial folder where, in theory, I'd click and then *poof* all my U: drive files would appear but every time I do I'm met with "Content Unavailable Due to Unknown Error". Is there something I'm missing or is it possible that it's a server issue I need to consult with my IT guy?

Like I said, I have no issues connecting to my server on my MacBook macOS and even the remote desktop on this new iPad Pro works better than it does on my MacBook, so I can access files that way, however I'd really like to be able to access them without having to remote desktop to my PC each time to access the server that way.

Thank you in advance

Hello charmingcanadian,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities!

We see that you are having issues connecting to your work server on your iPad but not your MacBook.

We’d be happy to help you!

We recommend making sure your iPad is up to date through Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and contacting your IT department if the issue persists.

Take care.
