Going to be being an Apple iPad Pro sometime before I start medical school in July. Since I have Apple giftcards, I'm going to be purchasing it direct. Does anybody know what will be the best time to buy? i.e., Black Friday, wait until they do the school promotion with free AirPods, etc..

Black Friday can be a good time. Any back to school promos are likely to be too late for your enrollment since they will probably be late summer 2022 (guess they’ll be tied with the normal back to school time frame)
It has been my experience that Apple discounts for the most part don’t cut it. I would look for Black Friday sales from authorized resellers like Target, Walmart, Best Buy, etc. IMHO, the Apple discounts are not all that great.
Apple didn’t get to be the most valuable company on Earth by giving stuff away and they aren’t likely to start now. They make some of the deals look attractive, but rather than getting free AirPods, I would rather have $200.00 knocked off the price of my iPad because I really don’t want or need AirPods.
