airpods wont connect to microsoft laptop

so my airpods are not connecting to my laptop at all, its not like connecting by bluetooth it does that it just paired but won't connect it usually says "connected, music, sounds" something like that but now it just says "connected" and after a few seconds disconnects and the noise that airpods make when they get connected to a device doesn't happen what do i do? i have the 2nd gen airpods w wireless charging case
