Apple Care coverage wordwide?

Hello,


I would like to know if Apple Care coverage applies worldwide.


I have got mixed responses regarding this.

My previous MacBook Pro crashed in Mexico and I was not able to benefit from the coverage which was brought in Canada. So I bought a new MacBook Pro there.


Now I am back in Canada, where I can repair my previous MacBook Pro. But I am also considering purchasing an Apple Care coverage for my new one. But can I use it in other countries?


From what I understood, it depends on the repair (example: change a battery is ok, but not replacing the computer or some parts).


Did anyone had experience with that?

options, parts availability and response times may vary. If service is not available for the Covered

Equipment in a country that is not the country of purchase, you may be responsible for shipping and

handling charges to facilitate service to a country where service is available. If you seek service in

a country that is not the country of purchase, you must comply with all applicable import and export

laws and regulations and be responsible for all custom duties, V.A.T. and other associated taxes and

charges. For international service, Apple may repair or exchange products and parts with comparable

products and parts that comply with local standards.


So, you may have to pay for shipping, but Applecare+ terms will prevail.


Applecare for Macs has ALWAYS been available worldwide; Applecare for iOS devices (iPads, iPhone, etc) is worded differently and may not be available.

No.

It is only available in the country/region in which it was purchased. So, being in a different country, it is now just gone. It all has to do with licensing. So, do not purchase it in other countries. And there are plenty of reports on the forums about people purchasing things online, that are no longer covered, being purchases in a different country/region.


Contacting Apple Support:

As long as Apple Support is an option in your country/region, then you can always call Apple Support, over-the-phone (if permitted).

Note: Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. With the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)

Sorry, but you need to update your knowledge base. Plain Applecare has not been available in the US or Canada for some time; it was replaced by Applecare + although many people still call it just Applecare.


The old Applecare Protection Plan has been phased out in most countries; it is still available in a few (in the far east I believe) and can be purchased within 365 days of purchase of the Mac. I tried to find old archived Apple documentation; I finally did find this from India re. the original plan and it was also, as I already said, the same global or worldwide coverage for Mac.
