Screen goes dim in the sun

Sometimes when I’m outside in the sun my screen goes dim and it’s almost impossible to read it. I saw another post which suggested restarting, adjusting the brightness (already at the max) and updating the software but it doesn’t help. Any suggestions?

Hi Lucyloo76,

We see your iPhone screen occasionally dims, particularly when used in direct sunlight.

If the screen dims itself automatically, this is usually due to a safety feature to keep the iPhone within acceptable operating temps. The display may automatically dim itself and the flash on the camera be temporarily disabled.

Are you able to adjust the display its full range of brightness after removing the iPhone from direct sunlight? Or when going indoors? Take a look at the tips regarding your iPhone temperature below.

Feel free to reply to this post if you have any additional questions.

Cheers!
