I have a very old iMessage that can’t be deleted. Whenever I restart my iPad I get a notification saying an iMessage from 451 days ago has not been delivered. I don’t know who I sent the message to, but I would like to delete the notification. It does not show up anywhere in my iMessages app that I can find. Please help. Thank you.

Thank you. Even though I have an older iPad which will no longer accommodate the updates, I gave the second half of your suggestion a go and it appears as though the old message is gone.

It sounds like you're receiving a message that a iMessage cannot be delivered from quite a while back. We will be happy to look at this with you.
First, can you ensure that you have updated your device to iPadOS 15.0.2? Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Next, if the issue still remains, go to Settings > Notifications > Messages and toggle the notifications for Messages off then back on. You may also want to restart the iPad:
