Does Numbers have a function like Google =ImportData() or MS Excel =WEBSERVICE()

Hi,

I find the stock functions with Numbers pretty limited and Yahoo seems to have stopped providing (Forward) Annual Dividend data for listings of ETFs.

There are third party data providers with extensive data catalogs that can provide data using the Google =ImportData() or MS Excel =WEBSERVICE().

Anybody know of a method to do this in Numbers?

Thanks!!

As I understand it, Excel's WEBSERVICE() function only works with Excel for Windows, so that's a bit of a non-starter on Macs unless you get into Boot Camp or Parallels.

Google's IMPORTDATA() function works with tab-delimited or comma-separated data. Numbers will import this kind of data, so if you can find suitable data in one of those formats then you may be in luck.

HI,

Thanks for the reply(s). I have used the built in Stock Function but as mentioned I find the stock function with Numbers pretty limited (due to Yahoo). There are third party services that will supply live/on demand data (as opposed to importing) by making a functional call to a web based server. Think of this as an alternative to the Numbers Stock function that is limited to Yahoo data.

Examples ( note these are dead links for example )

Google =IMPORTDATA("https://xxxx/stable/stock/aapl/estimates/1/reportDate?token=YOUR_TOKEN_HERE")

or

MS Excel using =WEBSERVICE("https://xxxxx/stable/stock/aapl/quote/latestPrice?token=YOUR_TOKEN_HERE")

I was hoping to keep using Numbers for the layout options but Libre Office has the WEBSERVICE() function.

Thanks for your reply(s).

Don
