Pinned tabs disappear after macOS 11.6/Safari 15.0 upgrade

I updated my OS to Big Sur 11.6, and Safari to version 15.0 as soon as they became available a couple of weeks ago. I have numerous pinned tabs in Safari, and they have all disappeared, not once but multiple times after having re-pinned the websites I use most. What is causing this, and how can I restore the pinned tabs, other than laboriously one by one?

UPDATE from OP: I did the upgrade to the Monterey OS (which actually failed a number of times but eventually finished), and the pinned tab disappearance problem seems to have gone away. It has not happened again since the OS upgrade. It must be that the Safari upgrade is optimized for Monterey/MacOS 12, and just didn't play well with 11.6/Big Sur. Anyway, I consider the problem resolved, whatever the cause was.

Hi Brother J,

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today with pinned tabs disappearing in Safari.

This feature should still be available. Have a look here: Pin frequently visited websites in Safari on Mac.

We can try isolating the issue further.

I am wondering if anyone has found resolution to this issue. I have updated everything needed, pinned my tabs (keep in mind, I have nearly 30 pinned tabs, frequently visited, or as noted by other forum members; those sites that are very hard to find or link to). These pinned tabs help me make sure that bills are getting paid, etc. Long story short, are necessary for me personally. I thought it was a glitch so I updated, opened, and pinned tabs all still gone. I pinned all that I could remember easily, which were 15 or more, and closed out with the X in Safari. The next day, all pins were gone again. Still yet to find resolution and it is frustrating. I am just wondering if they are saved somewhere in my OS but just a hide error or setting I have used not realizing it would hide or not save tabs, etc... If it is updating, a setting, or just me messing it up, I would still like to find out how to fix it.

This won't fix the problem (which has not recurred for me since upgrading to OS 12 Monterey) but might make recovering easier if it happens again. Copy the URLs for each of your pinned tabs and save them in a Pages document, or in Notes. If the tabs vanish again, you will be able to copy/paste back into Safari again rather than trying to remember or find them all again..
