The iPhone 6s can be updated to the current iOS 15.0.2.
To update, see instructions in Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
If you do that and it states that your iPhone is up to date with iOS 12.5.5, that would indicate that your iPhone is a 6 rather than a 6s.
