Safari Google Home page - trending searches

I've read how to turn this off in the General Settings but it didn't work. Anyone have an idea how to permanently turn this off on the Home Page?

Deleting "search marquises" from Safari Need help getting rid of this from Safari. When I open a new tap, within a few seconds it jumps to this site. Have changed preferences and looked for unwanted applications.
