iOS 15.0.2 update will not verify on iPad 10.5 with wi-fi only

I have a 10.5 iPad without a telco connection, only wi-fi. However, the iOS 15.0.2 update will never verify and install. If I try to use iTunes I receive an error 4000. Could you please help me figure this out?

When you try updating via iTunes, are you using a Mac, or a PC?

Cheers!

There are issues with update of some iPad models to iPadOS 15.0.1/15.0.2. Do you have a WiFi Only, or WiFi+Cellular model of iPad?

For affected WiFi+Cellular models of iPad, many are reporting that removal of the SIM tray from the iPad will allow the verification and installation processes to successfully compete. Other reports suggest that installing a SIM card (whether actove or not) also permits the update process to complete.

You may need to restart the update process, but removing the SIM tray from the iPad is simple and costs nothing to try.

Remove or switch the SIM card in your iPhone - Apple Support

If you have a WiFi Only model, the current workaround is to remove the iPad Passcode - and then re-try the installation process.

Be aware that removing the iPad Passcode has implications for any payment methods registered for ApplePay from iPad - and your Keychain (that includes your saved passwords). Assuming that you have other devices (such as an iPhone), your Keychain will remain preserved in iCloud - and can be easily re-synchronised with your iPad via iCloud. Payment cards registered for ApplePay will need to be manually re-added after the update.

I have three 10.5 ipad pros that will not update and are getting error 4000, I have tried all the solutions, deleting update, installing update from mac, resetting Ipad and restoring ipad. Two are stuck in recovery mode and when connect to a mac they get 4000 error when restoring/updating. The last one I am not going to put in recovery mode as that is a dead end. The update verifies but then spends hours installing only to state it has reach an error.
