Since update to 8.0.1 version to my Apple Watch S6, battery drains twice fast during the day, same happens to my job's iPhone SE 2020 on 15.0.2 update but not to my iPhone Max 12 Pro

FWIW, in some cases, unpairing the watch, completely erasing it, then pairing and restoring the backup will resolve the battery draining issue after an update. (Simply unpairing and pairing again may not work.)

Also, some people have found that simply waiting a few days after an update resolves the battery draining problem.
The same basic steps apply to the iPhone. Try restarting it.

I have reset my watch completely and paired it with my iPhone 13 Pro Max and I am still having this issue. It started immediately after the 8.0.1 update (model A1978). It's draining so fast it's not lasting a full 12hrs. I even disabled many apps. I've only had the watch on for 5hrs and it's gone from 100% to 49% already and I've just been sitting at my desk working. Prior to the update, my watch would last all day even with a workout or two.
Same issue and also my activity rings are jacked up. I’ve done the pair unpair- reset dance and it has helped the battery issue but according to my activity rings I am a ghost- and yet it is tracking my steps and elevation…..
Same issue here. After 8.0.1 my battery is dead in 12 hours. Activity rings not properly working. I tried factory reset and every suggestion for the battery issue with no resolution. They need an update for this asap!
ToeJamNearl- I did my 3rd unpair/pair and about an hour later I actually started to see my calories change on my activity ring...the stand and exercise ring still haven't moved but it's good to know that I am not a slug and not the only one experiencing this issue.
They need to fix this- I have over 800 days of meeting all of my activity goals- if my streak is blown because of a bug......Hey- Apple FIX THIS!
This is becoming too common of an issue! Why do I have to go through this every update with my watch? Too much…
For those of you whose watch battery last most of the day, you are lucky! I have been experiencing the same battery issue for about 6 days now (which is since I switched to iPhone 13 pro). Every day since, my batter is dead before I even got home from work. Today I tracked it closely and my battery lasted from 7:30am until 12:30 when it buzzed me it had 10% of juice left. That is FIVE hours!!!! 5!!! Since I was working from home I charged it and now I am hopefully going to get another 4-5 hrs out of it. Something is definitely wrong (whether it’s the update or phone interaction, whatever it may be) and Apple should figure it out, otherwise this will be my last Apple Watch (not like Apple cares but why would I want to waste another 600 bux for a new watch some day if it can only keep up for 5 hrs, and most of it is sitting down so not like there is a lot of movement or tasks happening at the same time).
When the Apple Watch works it works great. When the battery dies every few hours that doesn’t work for me anymore. Moving on to try out another device. Over priced, under performing Apple products need to be reengineered and this ongoing battery issue is across the board with Apple products. I am slowly starting to shed Apple devices starting with this watch which is now been relegated to a drawer while I move onto the next contestant. It’s unfortunate but quality control does not seem to be a top priority at Apple anymore.
I also experienced similar battery draining issue (~4-5 hour life) with iPhone 13 mini and iWatch series 5.
What worked for me was to reset the iWatch (content and settings) and pair it to my phone as a new watch (I had tried restoring from previous backup and was still experiencing issues). Now my I iWatch battery life is closer to 18 hours.
