M1 MBP - Belkin USB-C to ethernet disconnects

I have a Belkin USB-C to Ethernet adapter, not sure if its defective or there's just a compatibility issues with the M1 macs. Mine will disconnect after a few minutes of use then reconnect. Probably wouldn't be a huge issue if I wasn't working off a network attached storage. Final Cut Pro doesn't appear to appreciate having its data disconnect while editing. I don't really mind buying a different one but curious if anyone else is having the issue.

There are other reports of others having this issue. all the third-party adapters are using the same RTL chip, and when under heavy loads, users report they disconnect.

There are suggestions that a fix of some sort may be coming, but no hard information about when

In the meantime, you can use a third-party 10Gigabit Ethernet adapter, and these are said to work just fine.

one model offered by sonnet tech for list price US$199:

another by OWC macsales.com for US$169:

Either of these will shift down to Gigabit speeds or even slower if needed. The chips they contain require Drivers that first appeared in 10.13.6 (and later).

Adding those of these adapters would be like upgrading one component of a component stereo system. You may not see the full benefit until you upgrade further, and then they will really shine.
