Delete photos from Mac but not from icloud

Hi, how can I delete my photos on my MacBook without deleting them on cloud? I tried unchecking it on -> system preferences -> iCloud -> unmark photos, but it never asked me if I wanted to keep cloud or if I wanted to delete from my Mac (as some other people said in forums I found)

and instead, the photo options goes grey and I can't click it again unless I restart or logoff on my user.

but it never works anyway. is there any other way to keep my photos on cloud but free my MacBook space?

here is a print of what happens

I don't know why it happened but I keept trying and it simply worked hahah, I just kept logging out and trying to unmark that photo option, probably it was just bugging before. I don't know how to report this, but my problem is solved now!
