Music in iTunes not showing on iPhone

Hi,

I have iOS 15.0.2 and iPhone SE 2020. I do not have Apple Music as I already have loads of music uploaded from CDs over the years.

I went to sync my iTunes with my iPhone and there are songs that are in iTunes that are not loading to my phone. Other songs from the same album are showing.

How can I get the rest of the album to load?

Thanks!

iPhone SE, iOS 15

Hello jroyle,

If we understand correctly, you're having trouble syncing music from iTunes over to your iPhone.

Is this happening with the same songs or albums or is this happening with any song or album you choose?

Is iTunes and iOS fully updated? Have you tried restarting both the computer and iPhone one after the other to see if that helps?

Are you running any third-party security software? If so, can you try changing the security settings temporarily? Some third-party software, including security software, can interfere with the sync process between your computer and your device. Take a look at the a few steps listed below. This includes the steps under "If you still see the error." The article states these errors are for Macs, but the steps listed can apply to iTunes on a PC as well.

If you see error -5000, -69, 13010, or 13014 when you sync music from your Mac

If your computer doesn't recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod

We appreciate you sending over the screenshot.

Does the issue continue after dragging the files over individually? Also, you'll want to make sure you have enough storage space on the iPhone. Lastly, those dotted lines are associated with uploading to the cloud. Generally it means, the song is either waiting to be uploaded, can't be matched or is no longer available. You can read more in the article below.

If you're unable to upload the music, we would suggest reaching out to Apple Support directly.

Hi @Dave_G1,

Everything is up to date in terms of iTunes and iOS. It seems to be the same songs from the last time I did a sync.

One thing I did notice is that next to the song, it had a broken circle. I know when I had Apple Music, that signified that the song hadn't finished downloading from the cloud. This is not the case as I don't use Apple Music anymore.

Also, the computer was freshly turned on and I also updated my phone to 15.0.2 during the session so it was turned off and on again before doing the sync.

I didn't have any error messages. I'll try to get a screenshot of what I'm seeing.

Any further thoughts would be great.

Thanks.

A screenshot would help. Thanks for that.

Just to confirm, are you able to play the songs as expected in iTunes? This can help isolate the issue to the track itself. You can also try syncing the affected songs one at a time to see if there are any specific error messages.

Lastly, would it be possible to re-upload the songs to iTunes? This could help with any potential data corruption of the selected songs.

Let us know.

Take care.

Hi @Dave_G1,

I used to have iTunes Match but wasn’t happy with it so I canceled my subscription. So, those icons should be valid anymore.

Also, yesterday, I tried something to force a change by requiring the songs to be at a higher bit rate and those missing songs showed (yeah!) but all my other songs now have the same icon as the original ones that didn’t load. Mind you, they are on my phone anyway.

Not sure what is going on.

Regards,

Judy
