Can I change shipping at home for pickup from Apple Store?

I pre-ordered on Sept20 and they said it will be delivered between October 20 and 27. But I requested them that my kids make me order it as my birthday gift which is in mid October. So I called Apple and requested them that if they can change my order to shipping at home to pick up from a store I can get it in time. They said it’s not possible and they changed my shipping to expedite delivery and assured me that I’ll get it in time. Today when I called they said it’s not possible. Only way is that I should cancel the order and reorder again and I should talk to Paybright to cancel payment which I made almost one month back. I paid them in full, rather changing it at their end just the location they are asking to cancel order and reorder and also take care of the payment which I paid last month. 🤔
