how to upgrade macbook air 2013 to OS X 10.11 or higher

I have reformatted my macbook air "13" to factory standards. As a result, a lot of websites will not operate properly. Some have ask us to upgrade to a newer OS, i.e., OS X 10.11. Currently I a running the factory standard operating system 10.10. How do I proceed?

Thank you.

A late-2010 through mid-2011 MacBook Air can be upgraded to High Sierra 10.13.6 but no later version.

A mid-2012 MacBook Air can be upgraded to Catalina 10.15.7. See: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211683
