Sync not working correctly (IOS 15.0.2 Itunes 12.12.1.1)

When I attempt to sync my Iphone, the Itunes software reflects the incorrect amount of storage for this device. Also it has my "other" category as have over 16TB being used.

I have tried to reinstall Itunes as well as doing a reset on the Iphone. Neither option resolved the issue. Running the diagnostics feature in Itunes shows that "ipod support service is not installed" as well as "Itunes helper is not running".

This issue didn't start until IOS 15.0.2 and Itunes 12.12.1.1 were installed. How do I resolve this issue?

I downloaded the most recent IOS update to my phone through Itunes and that seemed to fix the issue. Not sure if the newest IOS actually addressed the issue or if I just got lucky?

If you are still having the same problem I had, it is worth a shot to try and download the next update through Itunes and have it load the update to your Iphone.

Hi gstack,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities.

We understand that you're not able to sync iPhone with iTunes on your computer and you have a large amount of "Other" in use. 16TB is a large amount of data. This sounds like it may be the storage amount of a different device. Where do you see the 16 TB of being used? Do you see 16TB listed in Settings > General > iPhone Storage? How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch can assist with managing iPhone storage.

Feel free to provide details here.

Regards.

gstack,

We understand that you see 16TB of storage used and that iTunes is not syncing. Where are you looking to see the 16TB amount reflected? Are you on the summary pane, on your computer? If you include a screenshot, please be sure no personal information is included.

You mentioned removing iTunes and reinstalling it. To be sure all parts have been correctly removed, be sure you followed the steps listed in Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows 7 and later.

Regards.

gstack,

You can try reset the sync history and try to sync. Do so from the iTunes menu bar > Preferences > Devices > Reset Sync History. This will not remove any of your saved synced information. You can review this and additional details in Change Devices preferences in iTunes on PC. If this issue persist, reach out to Apple directly.
