Do Voicemails Carry Over to New Phone?

I've got an old iPhone 7+ (with ATT) and am about to switch to the new iPhone 13 (and switch to Verizon). If I back up my old phone to my Mac as I often do, and switch to new phone (with new carrier), will any of my voicemail messages come along/carry over? Or will I lose all of them because I switched from one carrier to another carrier? Same cell number but, new device and new carrier. I'd hate to lose all the sentimental voicemail messages I've saved..... Help!

Hello kspater63,

From your post it appears you are looking to confirm that you will be able to move voicemails from your old iPhone to your new iPhone.

Any backups done using either your Mac or iCloud, should include the visual voicemails that are on your iPhone. Keep in mind that they will only be restored to a phone using an identical phone number.

We would recommending an additional backup of those voicemails if they have value. Having more than one backup ensures that you will still have them if anything happens to the original backup.

Thank you Eric~F! I will check out that link and attempt to do an additional backup of the voicemail messages. I am not the most technically savvy so, when you say "visual voicemails that are on your iPhone" -- not sure how that is different than the voicemails (audio) themselves? Does visual voicemails mean just the "typed out text of the voicemail -- that I can often SEE when checking voicemails before listening to them"? I would always rather save the audio version versus the typed out version (since there are always blanks and typos throughout the typed out message). Thanks for any clarity you can provide. :-)
