PDF files grayed out

AOL on both iPad and iPhone no longer displays attached pdf files only showing them as a grayed out file. They are then visible only if you attempt to print them. The attachments are there and non-corrupted with the issue arising only after the last app update.

I spoke with AOL technical support yesterday and they acknowledge the glitch resultant from their previous APP update noting that it will be fixed in their next update with no promised time frame

AOL’s latest update as of the end of November 2021 went and messed it up again and then Apple’s latest update went and deleted the print feature so you can’t view the attachment that way! Way to double screw people!

For now, I can tell you that on my iPhone SE (similar to Iphone 6) , when using the regular email system app that comes with the iphone, it does open and I can view any doc (word) or PDF through there.

But I never use that email app.

I prefer the AOL system, on PC and iphone.

Are you able to open the files when you access your AOL through www.aol.com? First, we would suggest ensuring the files you are trying to open are PDF and not an alternate format.

Here's some information on how to Save and mark up PDFs on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with the Books app. The "Learn more" section also explores saving the file to the Files app or using Pages. Try those methods out. Are you able to save the file to Files or open it in Books?

You can also use other apps to open files. When you open the file and click the share button, you can choose which compatible app to open it with.
