iPhone and iPad pairing. I have done everything I know and have read. They still will not pair. Says unsuccessful each time

iPhone and iPad will not pair no matter what I do. They paired for 18 moths. But now nothing I do will work. I’m so tired of Apple products not working. I can’t even get this Apple site to work. Will not submit question due to topic drop down nit working. I’m so over Apple. Android all the way

How were they paired, exactly?

Paired/tethered for call/message forwading?

That is the only way to pair an iPhone/iPad together.

No other ways to do that.

Also, a little hard to help/advise you when you provide NO information about your iPad and iPhone

Here are my questions to you.

Can you, please, confirm what year and model pad and iPhone do you have/own?

The “A” model number can be found on the aluminium back of your iPad in very small print, right under the larger bold print “iPad” on the back of the iPad and in the Settings app, General, About on your iPhone

What iOS/iPadOS version is this iPad and iPhone, currently, running?

What is the rated, internal data storage space/capacity of your iPad and iPhone model and how much of this free, internal data storage capacity is left inside of your iPad model?

All of that additional info can be found in the Settings app, General settings panel, About.

What, exactly, are you trying to do to pair this iPad and iPhone and for what purpose?

No iPad/iPhone combination can directly pair over Bluetooth. THAT has NEVER been possible.

There is ONLY the option to pair/tether an iPad to an iPhone for call and message forwarding.

Please try to attempt to answer all questions asked.

Thank You.

What, specifically, are you attempting to achieve by pairing an iPhone and iPad - presumably over a Bluetooth connection?

Whilst it is technically possible to do so, for the majority of applications, Bluetooth pairing of an iPad and iPhone is entirely pointless. If your intention is to use Cellular Hotspot features of your iPhone, this link is optimally achieved using the native WiFi hotspot connection - this being a largely automated process. Hotspot connections over WiFi offer substantially greater throughput, range and reliability.

How to set up a Personal Hotspot on your iPhone or iPad – Apple Support

If you still wish to pair your iPad and iPhone over Bluetooth, you first need to manually enable the hotspot feature on your iPhone:

Settings > Mobile Data > Personal Hotspot > Allow Others to Join - set to ON

Next, Bluetooth for both the iPad and iPhone must be placed in Discovery mode:

Settings > Bluetooth (accessing this page will automatically place the device in Discovery mode)

Whilst both iPad and iPhone are in Discovery mode, you can mutually pair the devices.

Again, I must stress, unless you have an unusual “edge case”, pairing of iPad and iPhone over Bluetooth offers no benefit.
