can i connect ipad to android phone for internet sharing purpose using the lightning cable? the android phone has a usb c (2.0) port and ipad has the usual lighting port which is the exactly what the cable supports.

If your Android phone is capable of sharing its hotspot connection over its USB-C port - and if your Cellular Plan permits “tethering” - then yes, your iPad has capability to share your Android phone’s internet connection over the wired connection.
