Messages Not Syncing on My Apple Watch (IOS 15/OS 8)

Apple watch does not mirror my iPhone messages. I have mirror turned on. iMessage turned on. My cell number is the only item checked for messaging. Both iPhone and Apple watch are fully updated to the most current versions. 15.0.1 for the iPhone 12 Pro Max and 8.0.1 for my Apple Watch 5. It has not ever worked and is frustrating. When I read or delete a message on my iPhone I assume that it should reflect on my Apple watch and it does not. I do power my Phone and Watch off about 3-4 nights each weeks so they are restarted often.

Any assistance would be appreciated. Seems like this should be a simple fix but I found a good amount of others having this same issue including 4 in my family.
