Not able to select Contacts and Calendars to be set up using iCloud in System Preferences

On a new M1 MacBook Pro, I am not able to share Contacts, Calendars, etc. using System Preferences > Internet Accounts as these apps are disabled for some reason. I don't have this issue on other Macs I use.

I'm on:

  • MacOS Big Sur 11.6
  • MacBook Pro 13-inch, M1, 2020

Any advice?

Hey there, hn289,

Congratulations on your new Mac! It looks like you're trying to set up information to sync between iCloud and your Mac, but aren't able to select the options. You've come to the right place for help!

Your screenshot shows you are looking to edit iCloud sync options under System Preferences > Internet Accounts. This works for third-party accounts (like Google or Microsoft Exchange), but iCloud data is managed through System Preferences > Apple ID > iCloud.
