My macmini gets stuck at password input

Hi all, since I bought it my mac mini does something strange. If the computer has been on for a few days without usage and I try to log in, the password box gets flooded as soon as I start typing the password. At the first character I type it looks like I typed already 10 letters, therefore I cannot type the correct password. The only way to make it work is to shut It down hardly (pull the plug) and restart it. At that point, I can input the password and it lets me in. Any ideas of what this could be related to?

Thank you!

Mac mini, macOS 11.5

Full computer sleep with Wake for network access and Powered Nap checked can cause issues.

A few things to try,

  1. Go to Apple > System Preferences > Energy Saver > check "Prevent computer from sleeping automatically..." and test.
  2. Go to Apple > System Preferences > Energy Saver > uncheck "Enable Power Nap" "Wake for network access" and test.
