What happens when Apple MagSafe charger is plugged into iMac?
If I plug an Apple MagSafe charger into a port on my iMac, will my iPhone be seen by the iMac?

I would be plugging the MagSafe into a new iMac with a USB-C port. Apple's MagSafe charger comes with a USB -C connection. Apple's website says the MagSafe can be plugged into an iMac. So you're saying that will work, and just charge slower than if I used a power adapter?
You've identified your iMac as new and having USB-C ports, so that will be fine. I believe those ports provide USB power at 5v / 3 amps (15W) so fast charging should be capable. Probably just as fast as with a power adapter.
I don't fully agree with @ Jack-19 on this.
The caveat here is that USB-A is not supported, so the iMac will have to be newer and have USB-C ports that can provide the necessary power. Wireless charging with Magsafe or other chargers requires more current than USB-A spec can provide for iPhone.
The following from: How to use you MagSafe Charger with iPhone 12 models and later - Apple Support
"Compatible power adapters for up to 15W faster wireless charging
When Lightning accessories such as headphones are connected, charging is limited to 7.5W to comply with regulatory standards.
* The MagSafe Charger will also function with power adapters that provide a minimum 12W (5V/2.4A) of power, but this will result in slower charging."

Yes, it should be.
