iMac fan speed with SSD

I have a late 2009 iMac 27" which i have upgraded it with a 1TB SSD. My problem is that after a while of booting up my machine the fans are really noisy, without the computer even being in high temperatures. The guy from the shop who installed the SSD told me that he changed the fan speed so it wouldn't run to hot. He also told me that in case the fans were too loud, i should take it back so he lower the fan speed because he may have set it too high. Anyway, even though they were a bit loud i didnt tell him and now i dont wanna bother him because 2 years have passed (i regret that i didnt tell him).

So is there any good and reliable application that i can control the fan speed and also in what temperatures and RPM should i set it?

It sounds to me as if your service tech might not have installed/reinstalled the thermal sensor for the drive; a common mistake by techs who don't really know their Macs.

Regardless, here is a software that allows you to control fan speed on you Mac manually or by setting temperature thresholds for fan activation and speed.

NOTE - Do not set fan speeds below the recommended default settings.

I would suggest taking the iMac back and having the tech install the temperature sensor adapter cable from OWC so you don't have to worry about adjusting the fan speed. I cannot find the thermal sensor for sale separately on OWC's website so the tech will need to contact OWC support to see if the part is available separately.
