Showing Chrome Passwords

On my new iPad (iPadOS 15) the Chrome password box is not showing. A blank box flashes up up temporarily then disappears. Same using Chrome passwords on all the apps. The passwords are there if I go into settings.

Tried deleting Chrome app, rebooting and reinstalling but didn’t help. It works once asking for Touch ID then reverts to above. Is something blocking it? Tried obvious settings but nothing obvious. Keychain works fine.

The only other thing I can suggest is the usual troubleshooting for a non-functioning app:

  • ensure that the Chrome app is up to date
  • restart your iPad
  • delete and re-install the Chrome app
  • sign out of your Google account in the Chrome app and sign back in

I am not aware of any major issues with any other third party password manager, and I'm sure it would be big news if it was widespread. Personally, I don't use Google services on my Apple devices, and this is one of the reasons - there is nowhere to turn to for support if something goes wrong.

I wish you all the best in finding a solution.

I’m experiencing the exact same issue, Each time I restart my iPhone 12 Pro I am able to choose a password from my Chrome password store, the phone authenticates my identity, presents a list of passwords stored in Chrome and I can select and inject the password in the list. If I attempt that same routine a second time the Chrome password window pops up for a brief moment but does not authenticate my identity and therefore does not allow me to choose a password from Chromes password list. And again if I restart my device I can perform one successful password selection from Chrome before the feature stops working as excepted.

iPhone 12 Pro here, which I can’t stand. (It likes to stop multitasking, as in no wifi or using apps while on call.). I should be a beta tester for new devices. No matter the manufacturer, my phones are always buggier. But for current post.

google passwords work perfectly fine in Chrome. Only issues with auto fill in chrome is my moody phone makes me select the password several times, or input 1st letter of login ID, then delete it, then select auto fill. Like I said, Perfect beta tester here.

recently however, Google auto fill will not work with any apps. And Apple keychain refuses to save or ask to save new sign in info. It also will not sync with Google past the 20 it randomly chose to store.

And to whoever said if larger issue it would be well known, not true. Most of us just don’t have time to blog every time something misbehaves. And the amount of patches Apple has been rolling out tells you there have been many problems, never just security fixes.

Oh, and Apple, want to join the 21st century and have the number row on the d*** keyboard at all times.

And with the new update, Chome is back to auto scrolling/locking. Not to mention phone is running very sluggish now.

of course I touched it, and it took me 20 minutes to get Siri to stop yelling her responses yesterday. And I mean louder than speaker phone at full volume. She decided she would only react to volume controls if she was actively speaking when they were being pressed.

I am having terrible experiwnce with 13 mini, including this isssue. Returned my first 13mini for replacement (kept freezing etc) and now this chrome passwords issue on top of other tiny but annoying bugs. While I was waiting for replacement, had to use old One Plus 6, I realised that I might start looking for a new android phone (probably google) if poor experience with apple continues after the next update… shame as I’ve invested into Apple’s eco system quite a bit now…
