Preview, Is there a faster way than dragging text boxes all the time?

Is there a faster way than dragging text boxes all the time? On my previous Mac I could just click above a line and a text box would be created but not anymore. On my new one I always have to first create a text box then drag it around to fill it in. Costs a lot of time when you have to fill in a lot.
