Stuck in loop logging into App Store on Macbook Big Sur 11.5.2

Hi there,

I have a new macbook laptop. I have made an Apple ID and logged in on the macbook. I would like to download a Mac app from the App Store but I cannot login to the App Store with my Apple ID. When I open the App Store, I click login and then enter my email and password. I get a message that the Apple ID has not been used before with the App Store (which is correct) and it prompts me to review my account info. I click review but then am redirected to login. I login again and get the same dialog box prompting me to review. This goes on and on. I have a payment method (US visa credit card and am in the US) and I have tried restarting my Mac.

Anyone know how to solve this?

Thanks so much!

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.5

HI carda303,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having an issue with using your newly created Apple ID on your new MacBook. We'd like to help.

This may be happening if your payment and shipment address(es) isn't in your Settings just yet. We'd like to make sure that you've done that and see if that helps. Follow these steps to update your Payment & Shipment details: Set up your Apple ID payment method and shipping address on Mac

Are you then able to complete that first purchase? If not, try to choose a free app and see if that help.

Let us know how that goes.

Take care!

carda303,

Thanks for the clarification.

Do you have any other Apple devices that you could try to make a first purchase on? Does your address look correct when you go to the Apple ID website? You will want to make sure that your details are correct here as well.

If you continue to run into issues with this, it may be best to Contact Apple Support for your next steps.

Hope that helps!

Have a nice day.

Thanks, ColleenD1!

Thanks for trying to help. I actually am just trying to install a free app - partly why this is extra frustrating! :)

I have a payment and shipping address set up and linked to my apple ID. Still stuck in the loop.

It is weird though because when I tried to follow the steps in the post you linked to, when I click on Apple ID in System Preferences, I get the error in the screenshot below.

Not sure if anyone has additional tips?

Thanks so much in advance!

Thanks for the continued assistance!

I don't have another Apple device. (Well, I have an iphone, but the computer in question is my work computer and I was instructed by my employer's IT to make a separate Apple ID using my word email for my work computer). My address is correct when I login to the Apple ID website. One other thing that is strange is that every time I login to the Apple ID website, I get an alert pop up on my computer saying a new device near Raleigh, North Carolina is trying to use my Apple ID and I have to enter a verification code that pops up on my same computer. It's weird that 1) I have to this every time even though it is always the same device, 2) I have to enter a verification code on the same device as I am getting the verification code, and 3) that it says the device is near Raleigh, NC. I am in NC, but over 150 miles from Raleigh - not generally considered near Raleigh? For example, where I am does not even appear on the map that pops up (see screenshots below).

Any thoughts from anyone?

I will next turn to contact Apple support...

Thanks!
