HDMI with touch
If the HDMI display has touch capabilities, can the iOS device detect the touch inputs?

If I understand your question, you have a display connected to your phone via HDMI and that display has a touch screen? If that is correct, NO, your iPhone will not detect the touch from the display of the HDMI screen. You are only sending data from your device TO the HDMI screen.
That's correct. If you mirror your phone to any device with touch input on the other device, touching the other device does not register on the phone. That said, you don't actually mirror iPhone to iPad. You use handoff so what you were doing on your iPhone can be seen on your iPad if you wish to move over to the iPad.
I haven’t bought an HDMI display, because I doubted the ability of the setup to send touch input back to the phone. Thanks for the speedy reply, lobsterghost1!!
Is that also true if I mirror the iPhone screen on an iPad? (that no touch input would get back to the phone?)
Thanks in advance!
PS. Am I correct in assuming I could connect a graphics tablet (w stylus) to my phone via a Lightning-to-USB/camera connector?
(I have the connector that can be powered via a Lightning input port.)
