iPad (7th generation) recharge speed problem

I have a 7th generation iPad Wi-Fi 32GB

To increase the recharge speed I have purchased both a USB-C 30W Power Adapter, and a USB-C to Lightning cable (1m) - both of these being apple products.

Using these to recharge the iPad, the recharge speed to still rather disappointing.

To charge from 5% to 33% (28%) took 1hour, and to charge from 5% to 66% (61%) took 2 hours 14 minutes.

How do I get the iPad to charge faster than this?

Your iPad7 can only charge at its maximum supported charging rate - 12W, 2.4A @5V. The iPad7 does not support USB PD (Power Delivery) Fast Charging.

Whilst the 30W Power Adapter is perfectly usable, your iPad will charge no faster than when using a standard 12W USB Power Adapter.

A 30W Power Adapter does offer some advantages…

For example, if you are using an Apple USB3 to Lightning Adapter to connect a USB storage device (which, incidentally requires power), you can simultaneously connect a Power Adapter. With a high output Power Adapter, your iPad7 can draw 12W and charge at its maximum supported charging rate - and have adequate additional power to simultaneously supply power to connected accessories.

A side effect of a lower power draw than the maximum possible from the Power Adapter is cooler running - and, with less load, potentially a longer operational lifespan of less heavily loaded electronic components.

Yes thank you for the information.

I have found that someone has tested this with a meter, and did indeed find that the maximum recharge wattage is 12W.

I find the information about the 30W charger on the Apple site to be somewhat misleading.

It say the 30W charger is compatible with the 7th Gen iPad - but it doesn't mention that you will not enjoy 30W charging as the devise does not support it.

So although the 30W charger will recharge the iPad slightly faster than the 10W charger that came with the device - I feel like I have wasted my money.
