Can't play videos in any browser

I can't play youtube or other internet videos on my Macbook Pro. I've tried 4 different browsers and I get white screens with sound or it jumps from one video to another without playing them. My OS version is 10.15.7.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.15

Some Thoughts:

A. Clear Temporary Internet Files:

If Safari is slow, try clearing out your Temporary Internet FilesHistoryCache, and CookiesGo Here: Clear your Safari browser history and set up content blockers on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

B. Try manually restarting your iPhone:

  1. Go To: Settings
  2. Select: General
  3. Scroll to: the Very Bottom
  4. Select: Shut Down
  5. Slide Finger: to the Right
  6. Wait: 30 Seconds
  7. Power One: the iPhone
  8. Try this Once More

Hi marby,

Welcome to the Apple Community,

where some of us do our best to help each other troubleshoot :)

Wondering:

  • If videos still play ok in QuickTime Player, Photos, or Keynote ?
  • if you have an ad blocker,

or other third-party (non-Apple) apps like unnecessary virus-checkers)

that may be interfering with the smooth operation of your Mac.

Or

  • whether you have enough free memory / storage (at least 50Gb free)

to allow for smooth operation of your Mac.

Eg: How to free up storage space on your Mac:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT206996

And / or

  • if your MacBook Pro has enough space, and is compatible (ie: MacBook Pro introduced in late 2013 or later),

you might want to try updating to to the latest Operating system (11.6) and software.

Eg: How to upgrade to macOS Big Sur

Hope something here helps you view online videos ok again :-)
