I have the latest iPad mini 6th generation. So far it’s been flawless, except when I FaceTime the recipient hears an echo. This never happened on my other devices.
Is anyone experiencing similar with their 6th gen mini? It seems that the mic being placed right next to the speaker is what could be contributing to this situation…

It seems that they addressed it with iOS 15.1. I’m not experiencing issues with echo anymore. Well done Apple.

We see that your FaceTime call contacts hear an echo when on a call with you. We want to help. Does this issue happen with all callers? Does this issue happen when you record a voice memo and play it back? Here's how to test that: Use the Voice Memos app.
You can also look at the steps here If the microphones on your iPad aren't working.
Also, does this issue happen when you are using headphones or any other external microphone?

It’s a shame Apple don’t seem to monitor these forums, like other manufacturers do on their own platforms.
I now tested this issue with different levels of volume on my end, and even at minimal levels (which should eliminate audio feedback) callers hear an echo, suggesting that the issue is somehow software related. Interestingly I noticed that during calls audio comes out of the bottom (usbc port end) speaker only, meaning Apple did try to prevent feedback caused by top speaker.
I’d had quite a few calls since 15.1 and I’m convinced it is fixed. At least on my unit. Nothing else to complain about anymore. The jelly thing doesn’t bother me. So am a happy camper now.
Ive had the exact same issue. It's intermittent, but happens at some stage on every facetime call but only on loud speaker. I have requested a refund (sadly) and i hope a replacement unit fixes the problem. It sounds like this could be a design or software issue - i wonder if it can be fixed...

This issue happens only during calls on FaceTime (I don’t use any other software for calls on this device) and only on loudspeaker. It happens with all callers. It sounds similar to the issue which many users reported with iPhone 11 Pro’s after launch in 2019 and that seems to have been fixed with iOS update.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who reported it, although I’m not glad this issue exists at all as it is making this device seriously flawed. Hopefully they can fix it with a software update.
Thanks for letting me know, I was hoping it would be a software fix. Let me know if the issue happens again though...not ready to buy again if I it's still buggy!
