My iPhone 6 is running on 12.4 how true is it that starting 1st November 2021 it will be no longer able to support what’s app?

Your last update should be iOS 12.5.5 (not 12.4).

I really don't understand why so many people can't read and think an iPhone 6

isn't capable of using WhatsApp after 1st November.

"Older iPhones that cannot be updated past iOS 10 will lose access."

So what's your problem?
