Workout goal on apple watch

My outdoor run has all of a sudden got a 6.67k distance goal and I want to re set to open. How do I do this?

Apple Watch Series 4, watchOS 8

How to reset OPEN GOAL in workout app. My Apple Watch insists on 4 miles for my outdoor walk. How do I change back to "open" goal? I hit the three little dots in the upper right corner, and then the "distance” option, (then I can scroll the distance up or down) but it just resets for that workout, then defaults to 4 miles for the next workout. This is a problem mentioned many times in this support community, but none of the answers understand the problem. Very frustrating.
