Automatically save SMS text messages

Is there any iPhone app (that does not require connecting to computer/syncing/etc.) that automatically saves text messages as soon as they are sent or received? For instance, say I receive a message, and delete it immediately after reading it. Is there an application that will automatically save the text I received into the iPhone, to where I can open this app and view every text message ever sent/received even if I deleted it? Basically something like a keylogger that only records sent or received texts.

I understand that you can keep records of SMS by syncing to iTunes (or via another computer-based app), but I'm wondering if there is a way to store text history automatically within an app on the phone (similar to your call log being stored online at your carrier's website even after you delete the call log on your phone).

A couple of months ago I had the exact same question. I was not able to find an exact app for the iphone, but I did find out that you can use google voice with your iphone. Once i had it setup i was able to make a bookmark of Google Voice and place it on the home screen of my iPhone. It made it a quick easy link to see the messages that I had received, I was also able to get on my computer and read/respond to the messages people were sending me.

sparker, can you please explain the google voice application? if i have it installed, will i begin receiving emails for every text where i can respond to a text someone sent?

also, i'm assuming i could still text from the iphone messaging app (and google voice will automatically send to my computer), as opposed to using google voice as my text application?
