If the drive is encrypted, reading its raw data will yield a request for login credentials to decrypt on the fly. Any data will be gibberish.
If you have supplied the correct credentials, files on the drive will be decrypted 'on the fly' and delivered to you in the clear. No additional steps are required.
I meant a seco file
can you tell me how to do that step by step I would appreciate it
There is nothing to describe, and no steps to follow. You are over-thinking this.
Open a file. If credentials are needed for decryption, a dialog will appear, otherwise the file data will be shown.
there is no credential needed but it still unreadable
what is the EXACT error message or what is shown on the screen?
is no error just a bunch of gibberish
Does the Finder show files and folders?
yes it does
Then the drive is either not encrypted, or is being decrypted properly, and the file itself is damaged.
Maybe you are trying to use the wrong app to open the file. If you open a jpg file in a word processor all you'll see is "gibberish".
