Black/grey and purple boxes on my screen

Hi guys,

I received my brand new notebook MacBook Air (M1, 2020), RAM 8GB, SSD 512GB yesterday.

I set it up and once I started using it random black/grey and rarely purple boxes started to show on my display (see attached) randomly. I updated the software and restarted the MacBook, but its still happening.

Please do not tell me I need to return my notebook to the store. :/

What can be the issue and what might be the solution please?

Thanks a lot fo ur help

Greetings juraj55,

We understand that you are seeing some display anomalies, and we'd like to help. Begin by booting into Recovery to see if these boxes show there.

Use macOS Recovery on a Mac with Apple silicon

There is no need to take any actions while in Recovery, but we need to see if these boxes appear.

Cheers.

Hi guys,

first of all I would like to thank to all of u for ur help. Unfortunately, I have to say, that reinstalling macOS did not help either.

I decided, that I am going to return my MacBook to the store today/tmrw as its brand new, cost me 1,3k Eur and its not working properly. Quite upsetting, but I it is what it is...

Have a nice rest of ur day :)
