iPhone 13 pro voice cuts and the other person can't hear me

I have an issue where my iphone 13 pro voice cuts out on speakerphone calls, not for me, but for the person on the other phone. Anyone else having this happen? The speaker grilles are clear.

Same problem here with brand new Iphone 13 pro. Voice cuts out on speakerphone also. That is the main way I use the phone. At the moment I have to answer with it in my ear speaker and talk into the phone that way. Thsat is better for the other caller I called. But... That is NOT acceptable for a $1599. new phone as of 10 days ago!! I have appointment at the Genius bar in Knoxville today at 12:15pm. I will update this with what they say. Otherwise I will be forced to return it and go back to my Iphone 10 until I find a new one. (Hard to get right now, limited inventory.

So frustrating!

I also have the mic cut out when used on speakerphone, due

to noise cancellation of sound coming out of speaker.  iPhone 13 pro purchased 11JL22 from

Verizon.  Zag screen protector and speck

presidio 2 case (have only ever owned speck cases).

The cut out was at its worst when talking to people with a

lot of background noise.  My sister on

her wireless land line became my worse test case.  (when I called her on her iPhone 12 the cut

out wasn’t as bad)  Our 2 test cases (for

worst and repeatable cut out) became running water in the sink and Crinkly bag

(while I just counted aloud).  As it

turns out removing the case 90% solves the problem.  Running water was reduced to no cut out.  Crinkly bag caused garble but was still

understandable till the bag drowns out the call.  This performance was similar to my previous

iPhone 8.  Thanks ERSSERSS for posting 15

times about removing the case.

There are no posts on what case works… Also frustrating is

the Apple store and Verizon “looking at you like you have a third eye in the

middle of your forehead” (credit bemrik3) when you describe the problem your

having with your new $1000 phone… knowing 1000’s of people have already

complained about it.

I was able to produce no case performance by removing (with

a dremel) from the inside, all parts of the case that contact the bottom

stainless flat of the phone (bottom radius’s of case not modified).  The ovals for the mic, lightening and speaker

were also enlarged.  The front and back

edges and the web between the ovals are still there. ie if you drop the phone

of a flat surface the case will still prevent the phone from contacting.

Note: before I went to the dremel I tried to isolate speaker

sound from mic with a 1mm thick mastic (soft rubber) between the case and the

bottom stainless edge of the phone.  This

had no reduction in cut out.  (ovals for

mic, lightening and speaker were open same size as case)

Apple gives only 3 options for this issue: Take to an Apple authorized repair center (which mine is more than 30 miles away), send into Apple for repair (which leaves you without a phone & I use mine for business) or... request an express replacement (Apple must place a hold of over $1,000 on a credit card of your choice - for me, that's not an option) - This is terrible customer support on an expensive phone that hasn't worked right since day 1. I'm very disappointed at Apple. They used to have good customer service. This phone obviously has issues as both myself and my Mom have brand new phones that don't work right (1 bought through AT&T and 1 through Verizon) - I'll be looking for a different option soon preferably without Apple. By the way, don't ask for a supervisor, they ARE the supervisor (whatever)

I really couldn't say, as I've never had a Samsung phone. However, you'd have to weight the benefits versus the costs of switching to a whole new phone, which could include compatibility issues, security problems, a new UI, a whole different OS, and more.

The choice is yours- but you may want to wait for iOS 16, at least.

Tried several times.

I'm struggling with this issue from iPhone 12 Pro max, I have changed the physical to e-sim, then back to a new physical one. Also changed my phone from the 12 Pro Max to the new 13 Pro max at October... Neither of the mentioned things helped me. Had a talk with the support they said they can not do anything with it because it's a service provider problem at all. LOL. My service provider is Telekom, they changed my SIM cards several times and nothing helped. They also said that the problem is with my phone and this could be the case as I switched my SIM card to my gf's iPhone 11 Pro Max and working well with it, also tried in my backup iPhone 8, and the same story. Something is pretty wrong with the iPhone 13 and 12 Pro Max phones or it's a software thing I do not really know. All I know is that I'm struggling from that thing maybe like 2 years ago and paid a lot for these devices and they are totally crap for phone calls.

So i have called apple support countless times. And they always had same thing to say- Update your software and then try. Record a voice note. Record a Video. Is it on Facetime call, Is it on Regular call.

I have told them it is on all types of calls- Facetime, Regular Audio, Whatsapp calls. So recently they replaced my phone- And guess what - the new phone has the same issue.

So in my case- I did some troubleshooting as to when it happens.

Video or Audio call on speaker, and my phone is on a stand ( usually in a group call) when there is some background noise from the other side of one of the participants(like air from a fan, or dishwasher or traffic). The noise cancellation tries to cancel the noise from the other side and cancels my voice too in the process.

if you ask the other person with the background noise to go on mute it works. So this is an issue with the noise cancellation. I have been telling this to the support people. And I do not get any solution for the same. One of the post said that we can stop the noise cancellation in audio and haptics option in settings. But that is not correct- 13pro max does not have that option. But regardless this is a fault in the phone and should be fixed by Apple

This is so infuriating. I have wasted time at Apple - they replaced my phone hardware, except for the screen because I didn’t buy direct from them. I am still having the same issue.

I saved for this **** phone and it can’t make proper phone calls on speakerphone.

Absolutely madness that a company this big won’t recall this product.

Swapping over to Samsung when I return it.

OH MY GOD - I am not the only one I see!!!!!!

My iPhone 13 Pro on latest iOS 15.6 - when someone calls me - when I receive phone call they cannot hear me randomly - when that person disconnect and phone again it is all fine till....... 2-3 phone calls more - and SAME PROBLEM.

Microphone is 10000% fine in Voice memos app - I've done like 20 recordings randomly - EVERY SINGLE TIME PERFECTLY FINE.

I even check Network Signal bars before I receive phone call to be 1000% sure it is not reception problem and it is NOT!

If you and thr other person simultaneously sing a song, like "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" at the same time, you will be able to replicate it.

The person you're talking to will report they cannot hear every few words!

I returned my iPhone 13 Pro yesterday and bought a Samsung S22. I'm sad, I loved my Apple otherwise, but don't want to use the phone next to my ear all day, I need speakerphone!!

I purchased a new IPhone 13 Pro November 2021. I have been plagued with callers on the other end saying they cannot hear me at times during the conversation. The problem is worse when I’m on the speaker. Friends don’t have this problem with $100 phones. Apple, please resolve this issue. Others have identified/confirmed the same problem. ATT is my carrier.
