Has Apple automatic keychain passwords changed?

I noticed Apple’s auto passwords recently changed from the 20 character password (6characters, dash, 6 characters, dash, 6 characters), down to 15 character, no dash. And it seems to alternate.

I am very sensitive to the possibility of hackers, and when I noticed this in the last week or 2, it made me wonder if this is a legit Apple change or something nefarious.
