While that may seem curious, the idea is not definitive.

Many parcels could be re-routed or lost/found again.

Appears you've addressed an incorrect feedback channel.

From where I'm sitting, many parcels travel through major

hub to almost everywhere. But I'm not employed by any.

And volunteer to look into these questions if I could help.

Sorry that's not something I could offer clues to resolve.

One of those major fly-ways goes through main city in AK.

Passenger flights, in soviet days; routed 'long' around USSR.

Freight cargo, heavily loaded, get refueled; some do offloads

for regional dispersal, to other routed jets; & little on ground.

Except those reloaded for later shipment go into warehouses.

FedEx with regional hub in KY; adds time to far west deliveries.

..And items 'anywhere' by FedEx go to KY hub first, too..

I am in the US and FedEx here regularly ships an order to their "hub" about 10 miles from here. After that, instead of putting it on a truck for the closeby area, they ship it somewhere 200 miles north, then sometimes east, before it comes back to this area. Sounds stupid - but that is how they work in this area.

So, once the shipping company has it, all sorts of things can happen - and none have to be bad. It is just the way they do things. If there is no direct ship or truck available, they may ship it out of the way and it may get there sooner.

It can get even crazier when there are multiple carriers involve.

Example, a vendor used one of the UPS "super saver" service where UPS delivers to a local USPS office. Well, the delivery to my local post office was via you basic UPS delivery vehicle which drove right by my house on his regular delivery route before dropping the item of at the post office. There was another one where DHL Saver was used. It was loaded on a truck and went to Cleveland, OH which can only be done on Interstate 80 which comes within 10 miles of my house. It then proceeded to Pittsburgh, PA, where it was finally routed via USPS to my home.

These were only some what local deliveries so on international deliveries who knows how things could possibly get routed.
