Compass on iPhone 13 pro max

I have upgraded to 13 pro max and the compass seems to need calibration.

i have tried all the usual steps such as figure 8 and enabling location services for the compass app, moving to a metal free area, restarting phone etc to no avail.

could someone please advise steps necessary to get the compass working correctly.

i never had this problem on my previous iPhones.

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities. We understand the Compass app on your new iPhone 13 Pro Max does not appear to be accurate.


It sounds like you've already taken some great steps, lets ensure each of the steps linked below have been followed.

Use the compass on iPhone


"Important: The accuracy of the compass can be affected by magnetic or environmental interference; even the magnets in the iPhone EarPods can cause a deviation."

  • If you happen to have a case on your iPhone, you may want to remove it, restart your iPhone, then follow the steps to use Compass again.
