How to buy AppleCare for my Apple Watch?

I have been given an I watch series #6 for Christmas 2021. I’m wanting to get extra coverage for it. But not sure how to go about it. I live in northern BC. We have no Apple store locally.

(Apple watch SE) I was planning on buying applecare for my watch after pickijng it up from target this morning, and when I go to check the coverage it says "This device is not eligible for additional coverage".
